Mastering FDM: A 3D Printing Workshop for Beginners (workshops)

Introduction to 3D Printing (FDM): Gain a foundational understanding of 3D printing technology, its principles, and its significance in various industries.

Discover the exciting world of Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) 3D printing in our 9h workshop designed for beginners. In an era where additive manufacturing is revolutionising industries, this training is perfect for individuals, hobbyists, and professionals seeking to tap into the immense potential of this cutting-edge technology.

Our workshop aims to equip participants with the knowledge and skills to confidently operate and utilise FDM 3D printers. By the end of the workshop, you’ll have a firm grasp of the entire 3D printing workflow, from sourcing models, preparing files for printing, to post-processing and finishing techniques.

Moreover, we emphasise hands-on learning, providing ample opportunities for practical exercises and live demonstrations, enabling you to gain practical experience in operating the printers and producing your own 3D prints.

During this course, we will go through:

  • Applications and Use Cases: Explore the wide range of applications and use cases for FDM 3D printing, including rapid prototyping, product development, manufacturing, and artistic expression.
  • FDM Printer: Learn about the components and functionality of FDM printers, including their operation, calibration, and settings adjustment for optimal printing results.
  • FDM Materials: Discover the different types of materials used in FDM 3D printing, their properties, and considerations for material selection based on specific project requirements.
  • Sourcing 3D Files: Explore various sources of 3D files, including online repositories and designing software, and learn how to select and acquire suitable models for 3D printing.
  • Adaptation and Preparation of 3D Files: Dive into the process of preparing 3D files for printing, including file format conversion, resizing, and optimization using slicing software.
  • Troubleshooting and Maintenance: Develop the skills to identify and resolve common issues that may arise during the 3D printing process, as well as learn essential maintenance practices to ensure printer longevity and consistent performance.

This workshop has a total duration of 9 hours and takes place over 3 days:

03/10/2023: 9am – 12am

04/10/2023: 9am – 12am

05/10/2023: 9am – 12am
