As we slowly approach Christmas, we would like to take a look back at the key moments that marked 2023 for Startup Luxembourg. We have chosen five to sum up the exciting year that is now drawing to a close.

Launch of the startup ecosystem platform

On 14 June, a large Luxembourg delegation travelled to Paris to take part in Vivatech, where a national pavilion bearing the colours of Startup Luxembourg represented the ecosystem. At a press conference organised as part of the event, the Minister of the Economy, Franz Fayot, presented the roadmap for the future development of Luxembourg's start-up ecosystem and the CEO of Luxinnovation, Sasha Baillie, announced the launch of the Luxembourg startup platform powered by Dealroom: two key elements with the ambition to take our ecosystem into a new stage of growth.

Entrepreneurs from all over the world in Luxembourg

On 28, 29 and 30 November, delegations of entrepreneurs from all five continents came to Luxembourg for ICT Spring, thanks to the joint efforts of the Chamber of Commerce, Luxinnovation and Startup Luxembourg. They took part in presentations, discussions and networking sessions to help them discover the country's business environment. Nearly 200 people came to the House of Startups for the Inside Startup Luxembourg session, where more than 15 key players in the ecosystem presented their initiatives.

Lisbon takes on a Luxembourg flavour

Web Summit is a key event for the global tech community, and Luxembourg has always been duly represented at the occasion. This year, the delegation was a special one, as it included Crown Prince Guillaume and Minister for the Economy Franz Fayot. It was an opportunity to underline the country's ambitions for its tech ecosystem. Franz Fayot, who made his last trip as minister, appeared on stage to promote the Luxembourg startup ecosystem.

The tech ecosystem meets the VC community

Startup Luxembourg Venture Days is the name given to this new tech event in Luxembourg, which aims to bring together the start-up and investor communities. This first edition was organised by four key players in the ecosystem: Luxinnovation, Luxembourg Private Equity and VC Association (LPEA), Luxembourg Business Angel Network (LBAN) and Startups.lu. The initial idea was to bring together two events: the pitching day for the 14th Fit 4 Start programme and the LPEA's annual Insights conference. It turned out to be much more than that.

Increased visibility up north at Slush

Travelling to the far north to attend a trade fair in the middle of December may seem a little crazy, but Slush is an important part of Startup Luxembourg's agenda. For the 2nd year running, in partnership with the Chamber of Commerce and the Luxembourg Private Equity and VC Association, we organised a side event to promote our tech and VC ecosystem to entrepreneurs from the very dynamic Finnish ecosystem. More broadly, this event attracted scale ups and investors from all over Europe.
